iCloud Sync Guide
It is recommended that you turn off the iCloud Sync option in the My Medical settings.
Due to several bugs in iCloud, My Medical does not sync data between devices properly. While your devices may appear to sync, Apple has confirmed numerous known bugs, some of them serious, and for this reason we strongly advise turning iCloud Sync off so that your information is not harmed.
What do you need to do?
For recent customers (anyone who downloaded My Medical after September 1, 2013), iCloud Sync has already been removed from the app and nothing needs to be done.
If you downloaded My Medical before September 1, 2013 and you previously turned iCloud Sync on, please turn it off by following these steps:
- Launch My Medical on your iPhone or iPad
- Go to the settings screen (on an iPad, tap the gear icon in the lower left)
- Tap iCloud Sync
- Tap Advanced Tap Move iCloud Data to iPhone/iPad
With iCloud Sync turned off, My Medical cannot be synced across several devices. We are working very hard on an alternative to iCloud. It will be available as part of a free update in the near future. Thank you for your support and patience as we deliver the best product possible.
Requirements
Security and Privacy
iCloud Sync is an opt-in service and is turned off by default. When iCloud Sync is turned on, the information in My Medical is transmitted securely over the Internet and stored remotely in an encrypted format. For an overview of iCloud security, please see the Apple.com support page. You may turn off iCloud Sync at any time and My Medical will revert to storing medical records directly on your device.
Turning iCloud Sync On and Off
To turn on iCloud Sync, simply flip the switch found in My Medical's Settings/Preferences area, as shown in the pictures below. You must turn on iCloud Sync for every device that you want My Medical to synchronize.
Once iCloud Sync is turned on, your information may require some time to synchronize and may not be available immediately. This is typical behavior, and after a few minutes My Medical will refresh itself. Since iCloud Sync uses the Internet, devices that have a weak Internet connection or none at all may face longer delays when synchronizing.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
- Tap Settings
- Tap iCloud Sync
- Slide the iCloud Sync switch to the On position
Mac
- Go to My Medical in the menu bar and choose Preferences
- Select the Syncing pane
- Slide the iCloud Sync switch to the On position
Advanced Users
You may wish to manually move your information into or out of iCloud. To do so, choose the Advanced option in My Medical's iCloud Sync screen. When iCloud Sync is turned off, the app provides a button to Move Data to iCloud, which, when pressed, will copy the information currently stored on your device to iCloud. iCloud Sync will be turned on in the process. Likewise, when iCloud Sync is turned on, the Move Data from iCloud button copies information in iCloud to your device. iCloud Sync will be turned off in the process. This operation will permanently replace any information already stored on your device, so please exercise caution.
When you copy information on your device to iCloud by pressing Move Data to iCloud, information that is already in iCloud is not deleted. Instead, it is moved aside into a separate database, while another database is created to house the information newly uploaded to iCloud. Each databases in your iCloud account is listed with the date and time it was created, as well as the name of the device from which it was originally uploaded. You may select a database to let My Medical know that it is the one you want to use for syncing. When you change the database on one device, all other devices will be notified and will automatically refresh themselves with the information from that database.
Troubleshooting
Information no longer syncs with iCloud.
If syncing ceases to take place or data is only syncing in one direction, please follow the below steps to restart syncing.
Caution: these steps must be carried out on whichever of your devices currently contains all of your information. Any differing information on other devices will be replaced with information on the device used to restart syncing.
Restarting syncing takes three steps:
-
Move your data out of iCloud
- If you have the app on more than one device, identify which one currently contains all of your information
- On the app on that device, open the Settings screen (on a Mac computer: Preferences)
- Tap iCloud Sync (on a Mac computer: click Sharing and then click iCloud)
- If the iCloud Sync switch is turned on: select "Advanced", select "Move iCloud Data to Device" (the model of your device will be shown), and accept the prompt.
-
Delete data in iCloud
On an iPhone/iPad/iPod: - Open the Settings app
- Tap iCloud
- Tap Storage & Backup
- Tap Manage Storage. Under Documents & Data, choose MyMedical
- Tap Edit and choose Delete All
- After deleting, please wait 5 minutes for data to be completely deleted from iCloud
On a Mac computer: - Open the System Preferences app
- Click the iCloud icon
- Click the Manage button on the lower right
- Select MyMedical and click Delete All
- After deleting, please wait 5 minutes for data to be completely deleted from iCloud
-
Re-upload your data to iCloud
- Reopen My Medical, navigate to the iCloud Sync settings and slide the iCloud Sync switch on
- Please wait 5 minutes for data to completely upload to iCloud
- Slide the iCloud Sync switch on from the app on other devices. Each device will sync all the information uploaded from the first. This process may take a few minutes.
